Justice League was formed in the summer of 2019 in response to increased violence, city-wide, and on the streets of Lower Price Hill (LPH), where most of the youth involved with Santa Maria’s Youth Development Program live and hangout. The group consists of 10-15 youth from Lower and East Price hill. Their mission is to create space for community events and projects, planning positive ways to impact LPH. Youth-lead initiatives have proven to be powerful forces as more and more teens are asking to join the group. The group submitted a proposal to present about the work they are doing at the Neighborhood Summit at Xavier University. After being accepted they prepared an engaging presentation which told their story along with asking attendees their own. This event has been postponed until August. The Justice League will still be engaging the community in various, creative ways while staying at home.
