Join Santa Maria to celebrate Hispanic advocacy and community empowerment

Santa Maria Community Services invites the Cincinnati community to attend the 12th Annual Bienestar Recognition Luncheon celebrating Hispanic advocacy and community empowerment.

Santa Maria is excited to announce its keynote speaker for this year’s Bienestar Recognition Luncheon as Judge Marilyn Zayas-Davis, a strong community advocate and the first Latina Judge in the Hamilton County Court of Appeals.

Santa Maria is pleased to present the Sister Margarita Brewer Hope Award to Rosa-Maria Moreno, Spanish Program Chair at Cincinnati State, for her contributions to the Hispanic and immigrant communities. During the last four summers, Moreno co-led groups of students on a Study Abroad Service Learning course in Guatemala. Plus, Moreno teaches Spanish to preschoolers in Cincinnati inner city schools, is the Director of Education for LULAC Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Hispanic Scholarship Board, and focuses on securing scholarships for immigrant students. In addition, the organization will honor young, local first and second-generation immigrant leaders for their contributions to Greater Cincinnati’s community and dedication to social justice.

The Bienestar Luncheon will be held on May 12, 2017, from 11:30 am-2:00 pm, at the Renaissance Hotel located at 36 East 4th Street 45202. To make a reservation, purchase a promotional table, or to sponsor the event, contact Leslie Schultz at leslie.schultz@santamaria-cincy.org or call (513) 557-7273. Proceeds from this event will support Santa Maria’s free programs and services including: early childhood education, youth development, health assistance, GED and employment assistance, financial education, housing assistance, and immigrant services.
