Meals On Wheels

The Meals-on-Wheels program celebrated its 37th anniversary this year. Meals are delivered door-to-door by a pool of 250 volunteers. Volunteers for the 2006 fiscal year contributed over 10,000 hours of service. Several volunteers have been delivering meals since the program began in 1972.

Our clients receive much more than food. They are checked on each day by a caring person who may be the only person they see each day. Another plus is that these clients stay in their own homes or apartments much longer, because they receive meals-on-wheels.

2006 Outcome Results:

• Served chilled meals for safer delivery and better nutrition
• 250 volunteers deliver meals
• Over 45,000 meals served per year
• Oldest volunteer meals-on-wheels program in the Cincinnati area
• 200 older adults maintain independent living
