Santa Maria Community Services' work, in principle, is not that
different today than it was at our founding 110+ years ago. Our
purpose is still to work closely with those most disadvantaged
to help them gain access to the resources they need to improve
their lives and to strengthen their families and communities.
Whether we are teaching young parents how to help their newborn
children thrive, connecting Hispanic workers to medical care,
assisting older adults with access to affordable medications or
supporting the work of neighborhood residents to build a stronger
community, Santa Maria's goal is the same: to help families
and communities help themselves.
Thanks to you, our friends, Santa Maria can look to the future
with hope and encouragement that people's lives are changing and
neighborhoods are becoming stronger places for children to grow
and families to succeed.
Santa Maria's three primary focus areas are Parenting, Health
and Wellness and Community Development. Here is a snapshot
of who we served in 2006:
- Parenting: 394
- Health and wellness: 1,776
- Community development (e.g. housing, youth leadership): 1,169
- Children (0 to 18): 1,302
- Adults (under 55): 1,269
- Adults (55+): 768
We will as an agency continue to be flexible in response to the
changing needs of the communities we serve. We thank you for being
our partners as we carry out our mission.
We provide comprehensive support services that integrate:
