Santa
Maria’s Housing Program goal is to help
Price Hill households achieve sustainable,
quality, affordable housing.
Santa Maria's
Affordable Housing Specialists meet with
individuals on a one-on-one basis to help
clients avoid eviction, obtain housing,
work with landlords to improve rental conditions,
prepare household budgets and access other
resources. Communication with the landlords
and education on tenant/landlord rights
and responsibilities are stressed to optimize
outcomes. We also help organize tenant
groups and resident
associations.
Through
the Price Hill Finanical Opportunity Center
we also have access to workforce development,
financial coaching and income supports.
All
of these efforts support the goal
of empowering Price Hill residents to move
from crisis towards
self-sufficiency and beyond.
Santa Maria provides
a Tenant Education Class for families and
individuals who want to learn the skills
they need to find and retain housing.
This
one-day course covers a wide range of topics
including: tracking your spending, developing
a budget, the rental application process,
home care, leases, security deposits, evictions,
and communication with neighbors and landlords.
At the end of the course participants receive
a certificate of completion that they can
present when applying for housing.
Santa Maria has also developed
a High School Tenant Education Class that
can be taught in high schools on the West
side of Cincinnati. This program educates
students on the realities and responsibilities
of living on their own.

Stable
Families is designed for families who have
at least one child enrolled
in a Price Hill school. This program supports
families with a history of housing instability
and frequent moves. Often these instabilities
affect their children's school attendance
or performance. Santa Maria's Stable Families
program involves twelve months of intensive
case management and coaching to address
all of the issues the family might be facing.
